Hazard Removal

What is a Hazardous Material?

Hazardous materials are defined as:

[A] substance to which exposure results or may result in adverse effects on the health or safety of humans.

[B] any biological agent and other disease causing agent which after release into the environment and upon exposure, ingestion, inhalation, or assimilation into any person, either directly from the environment or indirectly by ingestion through food chains, will or may reasonably be anticipated to cause death, disease, behavioral abnormalities, cancer, genetic mutation, physiological malfunctions, or physical deformations in such persons or their offspring.

[C] any substance listed by the U.S. Department of Transportation as hazardous materials under 49 CFR 172.101 and appendices.

When would I need a Haz-Mat Team?

If a location or site is or may reasonably be anticipated to have the potential to expose someone to a hazardous material, a Haz-Mat Team should perform the necessary tasks of eliminating, decontaminating, and cleaning-up the location or site.

Hazard removal by a Haz-Mat team may seem as insignificant as contamination from bird dropping accumulation (which may harbor infectious fungi Cryptococcus neoformans and Histoplasma capsulatum), significant mice inhabitation (which may house a viral agent of hantavirus caused by inhalation from infected rodent droppings and urine), diesel or oil leakage or spills (which may leak into the water systems) to as significant as contamination from acid or alkaline spills or chlorine leakage.

If or when there is even a small doubt as to the safety of the health or lives a Haz-Mat Team should be called. We as a Haz-Mat Team can assess the site and determine if professional removal is necessary or if with a little protection the lay person may perform the necessary tasks.

Haz-Mat Team

At a hazardous materials site, prompt, correct action can save lives and prevent serious injuries and property damage. But knowing what to do takes preparation and training.

Haz-Matters, as a Hazardous Material Remediation company, has personnel trained in First Responder Operations, Hazardous Materials Technicians, and Hazardous Materials Specialists that response to locations of hazardous substances for the purpose of control, stabilization, decontamination and clean-up of the site.

Haz-Matters has the necessary equipment and supplies to respond to haz-mat contaminated site for clean-up operations where we remove, contain, package, neutralize, stabilize, clear-up, or in any other manner processed or handled of the hazardous materials.

Haz-Mat Disposal

Hazardous Material Disposal

Disposal procedures are very regulated and can be complicated... due of course to their hazardous properties. They must be disposed of in such a way as to not render harmful exposure conditions to human or animal life or damage property or the environment.

These hazardous materials aren't really a problem besides their certain harmful effects and are very useful. Now, when these same hazardous materials or chemicals are old, used, diluted, or otherwise not useful and need to be disposed of, problems then arise concerning the proper procedures and regulations governing how they're to be "rid" of and concerning the work and precautions in handling and working with these chemicals.

Proper training and knowledge is required to be able to deal with hazardous chemicals.
