Biographical Sketches Chuck Massie Haz-Matters'
president and Haz-Mat Specialist Chuck started Haz-Matters Safety in 1994 to provide safety and health training, program development and assessment activities to area businesses. Chuck has been a Fire Fighter Medic with an major fire department and haz-mat emergency response team from 1985 to 1999. He has been CPR/First Aid Instructor certified since 1987. In addition, Chuck has attended the training necessary to qualify him as a competent, certified instructor for 29 CFR 1910.120, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and the other "OSHA standards" training. Over the last ten years he has been involved in analysis of fire and HazMat problems in the district, he has designed and presented fire and life safety training for citizens ranging from the pre-schooler to senior citizens and has developed and delivered disaster planning and preparedness programs for schools, neighborhoods and businesses. Chuck has provided EMT courses, HazMat courses and additional training courses to local businesses, government agencies and educational groups throughout the region as an instructor for HAZ-MATTERS Safety, the fire department, and for Pennington County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) as well as the State of South Dakota Division of Emergency Management. Haz-Matters then made the short transition from chemical and safety hazards to indoor hazards dealing with Indoor Air Quality. Chuck already an IH "Industrial Hygienist" continued his education and has completed many courses and gained significant experience in dealing and concerned with the indoor air quality hazards, the testing of them, and remediation processes. Chuck has also successfully completed and receive his title as a CRMI "Certified Residential Mold Inspector" under IESO "Indoor Environmental Standards Organization" (CRMI # 11128).
